What are the differences between the three types of CPE activities?

The ACPE identifies three types of CPE activities:  Knowledge-based, Application-based and Practice-based.  Knowledge-based activities are designed to primarily “transmit knowledge”, while application-based activities are created to not just transmit knowledge, but also for the learner to actually apply the learned information during the activity.  Lastly, practice-based CPE activities are designed to “instill, expand, or enhance practice competencies through the systematic achievement of specified knowledge, skills, attitudes and performance behaviors”.

More information about the ACPE activity types can be found in their updated Policies and Procedures Manual.
