Are we allowed to include advertising in a handout (printed or digital) that contains abstracts if we don’t offer CME credit for the abstracts?

The answer depends on the handout itself, and what the handouts, with abstracts, are used for in relation to the accredited CE activity.  No advertising is allowed if the abstracts are referenced during the activity or serve as a component of the content.  But if the abstracts are not referred to as part of the (accredited) course content, and are included in the handout with logistical information, then advertising is allowed.
