The ACCME has nothing against topics that might be deemed “controversial” in nature. However, accredited providers must ensure the topic and content are compliant with Standard 1 validation parameters. To note, if it’s a new or evolving topic, it’s important to clearly identify it as such within activity materials, as well as avoid “advocating for, or promoting, practices that are not, or not yet, adequately based on current science, evidence, and clinical reasoning” (Standard 1.3).
