Is it ever appropriate for a CME activity to feature medical device usage?

Any activity in which a device manufactured by a commercial interest is explored and instruction ensures in any accredited CME course would be considered promotional.  The caveat is if all the learners in attendance have already purchased the device/software.  If this is the case, then it would be allowable as it is not promotional and is, instead, education about the utilization of equipment already purchased.
