If a faculty member’s spouse is employed by a commercial interest, is the faculty member still allowed to participate in the CME activity?

Yes, they can still participate.  As of September 2016, this type of disclosure was no longer deemed an employee COI for the individual, but rather a relevant financial relationship.  Providers should disclose and resolve this COI accordingly.
