I have heard that social events shouldn’t compete with educational events. What does this mean, practically?

Meals or any kind of social events cannot compete with or take precedence over educational events (SCS Standard 3.11).  Practically, this means that they are considered “competing” if they happen at the same time (in a different location) or when they are the main attraction at the educational activity.
