Should my organization become accredited through the ACCME or through my state medical society?

The ACCME lists these institutions as eligible for accreditation directly through the ACCME:

  • State medical societies
  • Liason Committee for Medical Education (LCME)- accredited schools of medicine
  • National physician membership organizations
  • National medical specialty societies
  • Any other organization whose CE programs serve physician learners, 30% or more of whom are from beyond the home or contiguous state(s) of the organization

Any organization whose CE programs serve physician learners, 70% or more of whom are from the home or contiguous state(s) of the organization are eligible to become accredited from an ACCME Recognized State Medical Society.
