What are the main parts of the application process for Initial Accreditation with the ACCME?

The initial application process (for first-time applicants) is for organizations that provide CME for physicians and can take multiple months (usually 8-10).  There are three major components of the application process:

  • Self-Study Report: Your opportunity to tell your story, assess your role in providing CME, and analyze your current practices.
  • Performance-in-Practice Review: Evidence for two recently completed activities that demonstrate the organization’s compliance.
  • Accreditation Interview: A conversation with a team of volunteer surveyors to give space for questions and further information.

The complete initial accreditation process for the ACCME can be found here.
